This rum is a poster child for all my happinesses and frustrations regarding such products. Happiness because I get to try something unique, old, venerable, hailing from a country that formed my own mindset for almost half my life. Frustration because it’s not commonly available, not easy to come by (least of all in Canada), and as a consequence nobody knows what the hell I’m talking about half the time, or – given the relative obscurity of the rum – really cares. Hopefully this review, and those to come, change that a little and raise demand for what is, really, a product that stands proud by itself and should be tried by all rabid rum aficionados at least once in their drinking lives. And yeah…you can give the maltsters a sip if they ask
Glen Muddy & Port Peathead , good one , did have a good laugh when I read those names . I on the other hand would never alter a name for fun , i.e. Cabin Boys Delight or Captain’s Curse .
Interesting reading your journey through rum to finally appreciate a rum with whisky qualities . If I may say it’s like your experiencing a Rumspringa , after your period of defiance with rum you are ready to join the adult world of whisky .

Never. I shall never turn to the Dark Side. I am a rum lover, like my father before me…
Would you mind letting me know where in Alberta I may be able to purchase a bottle of this rum ?
