Well…being just shy of 8:00am as I type this…I hope the real answer is ‘nothing’.

What are you going to be pouring after work tonight?  What did you sip last night?  What is your go-to dram lately?

  1. Ahhh…blustery day. The winds are strong blowing snow and sleet almost horizontal. It robs you of your breath when walking into it. I have heard that the severe weather warning for Calgary has been lifted though.

And what has this to do with dramming? EVERYTHING.

Temperature, weather and season determine my beverage choice as much as mood or craving.

On a night like this, I believe I will hit either the Ardbeg Ten or Aberlour a’bunadh.

    …and you?

  2. Talisker 10 last night.

Jay hooked himself up with a bottle of this good’er and was sipping from it Saturday night. Decided to follow suit.

…and tonight…just cause Lance put the bug in my brain…I think it will be the ‘Fiddich 15.

  3. Last night: Bruichladdich Peat and Caol Ila 12.

Tonight? Sky’s the limit. Nice weather…hmmm…maybe Glenmorangie on the deck, capped with a wee dram of the a’bunadh to put the lights out.

  4. I’m amazed you can still make it to work 🙂

  5. I am looking for some information and a buyer for my 50 year old 26 oz bottle of Haig & Haig Pinch Scotch Wiskey in its origional box. This was given to me at birth and I am turning 50 in Sept. Is there anyone in your club interested in answering my questin on what it may be worth and if anyone has any interest in obtaining it.

    Thanks
    Dan

    • Hi, Dan.

Cool gift. Your whisky, though 50 years old, is likely not a 50 year old whisky(those are EXTREMELY rare). A whisky stops aging as soon as it is bottled. A 12 year old bottle of whisky will still be a 12 year old whisky 50 years from now. That isn’t to say it wouldn’t be valuable. Quite the contrary.

Can you send me a picture? antihero7@hotmail.com

  6. Last night Jay broke open an 11 year old indi bottling of Caol Ila. It is a Gordon & MacPhail, and what an oddball it is. Caol Ila at 59%, but…from a sherry butt!

I gots ta tell ya boys…the jury is still out on the this one. I will review it at some point, but I need to try it again later. Need to decide if I even like it first.

Spent so much time with my nose in the glass trying to decipher this whisky, that I became scent logged a la ‘Perfume’.

Finished the eve with a glass of Corryvreckan (review of which is up after having sampled this on a few occasions now).

    Tonight…beer and wings.
